Project 1
The first assignment requires students to design a Disabilities Experience Pavilion as an exploration of themes regarding to universal accessibility as well as the spatial experience of physically disabled users. Through the study of precedents, student will explore different aspects and elements that makes up a meaningful spatial experience, for instance, how different or specific tactile quality of materials can be put together to achieve spatial and formal quality.
Final Outcome
Through this assignment, I've learned to be more empathetic towards people with disabilities by taking into considerations of what are some spatial challenges for people with physical disabilities and how as a designer can create a more meaningful spatial experience for them. Besides that, I've also grasp a better understanding on what are some safety measures or consideration that should be taken place as I design the pavilion to ensure that the spaces and mechanisms are simple and easy to operate.
