Sketching Analysis
This project aims to introduce appropriate visual and verbal architectural vocabulary when referring to building types, series and periods. Besides that, students are required to show the appropriate sequence of historical periods and how they are represented architecturally.
Firstly, student will conduct a research and architectural analysis on 5 selected building from the period of Pre Historic, Ancient Egyptian, Ancient Greece and Rome, Middle Ages and Renaissance and Age of Enlightenment. Information to be included are history and facts of the buildings, the architect, architectural layout, building construction methods, construction materials, structural analysis, architectural elements and component analysis.
In conclusion, I've gained better knowledge on each historical building and it's impact and influence to modern architecture when conducting my researches. Besides that, I was also introduced to many new architectural vocabulary through lectures, exercises and online badges.
Final Outcome
The 5 main architecture buildings selected are Stonehenge, Temple of Horus, Temple of Athena Nike, Villa la Rotonda and Atles Museum.
After completing and finalizing all the researches, an A4 sketch booklet is used to compile all the information, analysis and sketches of the heritage buildings.
Furthermore, the tutorial activity given was beneficial and acts as a good exercise to further understand and carry out analysis for the sketchbook.
