The objective of the final assignment is to expose the students towards the process of building construction by producing technical drawings from the student's proposal and design of the chalet's space. Besides that, the ability of a student to integrate the site information to their chalet proposal will also be tested.
TASK AND PROGRESS
WEEK 9
Selection of layout, Plan Drawing and Furniture Shopping
Before proceeding with the drawings, students are required to choose one suggested layout of the chalet prepared by the lecturer.
After selecting my layout, I began to draw and divide the space in the chalet. Next, I moved on to search suitable furniture in IKEA and Lazada to fill up the spaces of the chalet
WEEK 10
DRAWING OF ELEVATION 1 & 2, ROUGH SKETCH OF ROOF PLAN
As stated in the brief, students are required to complete at least 2 elevation drawings. Before proceeding with the drawings, students are asked to come up with a rough sketch of the roof plan.
I selected the location of where I want to place my chalet. Then, I proceeded with my elevation drawings. One facing Taylor's Block C; another facing the lake.
WEEK 11
DRAWING OF SECTION 1 & 2
One of the submission requirement and task given is to have 2 section drawings. The section drawings should consist of details of the roofs, wall / floor, piles, ceilings and also furniture.
As for the progress, I went to IKEA's site to search up the product details of the furniture. I also used the extra reference given by the lecturer in Padlet to complete all the details of my section drawings.
WEEK 12
DRAWING OF SITE PLAN / ROOF PLAN
As stated in the brief, the site plan drawing should also include the rood plan. Besides that, the details and information of the site should also be included in the site plan drawing.
Referring to my rough sketch of the roof plan that was approved, I drew it in the site plan. I also drew the site information according to Google Earth. I also placed a north sign to indicate the direction.
WEEK 13
FINALIZING DRAWINGS AND DRAWING OF TITLE BLOCK
Submission requirement stated in the brief consist 1 site plan, floor plan, 2 external elevations and 2 sections. Along with it students should name their chalet with a short description with a title block in every drawings.
In this final week, I make sure I completed and fulfilled all the requirements. I drew the title block on the right side of my drawings and named my chalet "ASHES".
I felt very grateful and appreciative for being able to submit the assignment on time with the guidance from my friends and lecturer. In this final assignment, I've also grasp a rough idea on the holistic process of construction drawings developments through observations of the site and then later on transfer it into drawings.
