The Act of "Play"

TASK & PROGRESS

THE ACT OF "PLAY": Features

EMPATHY

In this stage, I decided to question some of my teenager friends and young kids to get a better idea on what are their thoughts of the act of "play" is. Besides that, I also did some research on the movement of arm and read up articles related to kids and youth groups.

DEFINE

After gathering all the information, I compiled all my results in graphs and diagrams. I also did some analysis and observation towards the result collected and came up with an overall summary in order to help me focus more on the important points and data.

IDEATE

Based on the summary made on the define stage, i came out with 3 game/toy ideas for my target audience. I did some drawing and labeling on how the toy looks like and stated the needed materials to create the toy.

PROTOTYPE

After giving a long thought, I decided to go with the ball game because i realized that the most common type of toys/game that teenagers and kids share is something that involves a lot of movements and requires one to be active. I also took into consideration that the kids in rural area are generally more active due to the environment that they grow up.

PRESENTATION

I presented the game/toy I made to my sister and her friends and asked whether would they like to try it out. After explaining the rules, they tried out the game and I was happy to see them enjoying the game. The overall feedback was satisfactory and they said that it was a really fresh and new idea.

My biggest gain from this assignment is learning how to create and make a game/toy for kids. For that, I'm thankful that I was given the opportunity to do so through this assignment. The two major TGC that I've learned is Thinking and Problem Solving Skills and also Communication Skills
